Jigawa State Coordinator of Goodluck Support Group (GSG), Mr. Muttaka Ahmad Ibrahim has alleged that Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State worked against the People’s Democratic Party’s Presidential candidate and National Assembly candidates on March 28 general elections.
Mr. Muttaka said in an exclusive interview with FREEPRESS that the money brought to the state by the presidency to mobilize party faithful never got to them.
“Gov. Sule Lamido and his entire cabinet members worked against the re-election of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, in spite of Mr. Jonathan’s giant development stride in the state,” he alleged.
“It’s sheer wickedness and outright betrayer on the part of the governor whom many have seen as a presidential material and largely touted as President Jonathan’s likely successor.”
Mr. Muttaka bemoaned the faith of the party in the state and across the country, saying if the party leadership is honest, it could still bounce back in this week Saturday’s Governorship and Houses of Assembly elections.
Before the elections, the opposition party, APC, through the chairman of its Governor’s Forum, Governor Rochas Okorocha, told Nigerians that about seven PDP governors were working secretly with them in order to actualize the party’s jostle to unseat President Goodluck Jonathan.
The defection of Jigawa State deputy governor, Mr. Mahmud Gumel a few days after the presidential and National Assembly elections was said to be part of the preparatory move by Governor Sule Lamido to have easy sail to the APC.
Before his defection, the deputy governor was suspended in his ward by the ward executive for anti-party activities.
Calls and texts messages put to the Governor and his aides to hear their own side of the story were ignored.
