Funeral ceremonies for father of Industrial Engineering in Nigeria, Academic Giant, Late Prof. David Ehigie Osifo begins today from 5pm to 8pm, with a Christian wake keeping at Our Lady Seat of Wisdom Catholic Chapel, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Oyo State of Nigeria.
Professor Osifo, great grandson of Oba (King) Eresoyen of The Great Benin Kingdom, renowned researcher, industrial expert and long-time Professor of Industrial Engineering at the University of Ibadan, slept in the Lord on February 23, 2015. He was aged 81 years.
He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Prof. Bola Olufunke Osifo, his children and their spouses, grandchildren, siblings, nephews, nieces and cousins.
A statement released by his family during the week, signed by Mr. Emmanuel Okunmwendia said reception will follow at John Paul Hall next to the Catholic Chapel in the University of Ibadan.
There will be lying-in-state on Wednesday March 11, 2015 from 8am to 9am inTrenchard Hall, University of Ibadan, followed by Funeral Mass at 10am at Our Lady Seat of Wisdom Catholic Chapel of the Ivory Tower.
Reception follows at John Paul Hall next to the Catholic Chapel in University.
On Thursday March 12, 2015, Late Professor Osifo’s body arrives Benin City for a Funeral Mass beginning from 10 am to12 noon at St. Paul Catholic Chapel, Airport Road, GRA, Benin City, Edo State.
At 1 pm, interment will follow in his GRA home, Benin City, followed by reception at Celebration Gardens, 1 Obasogie Street, GRA in the state capital.
Dignitaries from various walks of life are expected at the funeral.
In the statement, the family expressed sincere appreciation and gratitude to all those who have shown sympathy and support in various ways, including phone calls visits, emails, etc., during this trying moment.
