A job syndicate coordinated by Mr. James Odeh and one other that specialises in issuing fake letters of appointment to unsuspecting job seekers has been nabbed by the intelligence unit of the Nigerian Prisons Service in Abuja.
Before his arrest, Mr. Odeh is said to have issued about 400 applicants with fake appointment letters into the Nigerian Prisons Service.
31 of the victims besieged the National Headquarters of the Prisons Service with fake letters of appointment for documentation on Friday 20th February, 2015.
Investigation however revealed that they were duped by the the conmen who posed as members of a non existent “Replacement Board” of the Service.
Some of the victims claimed to have parted with between N100,000.00 to N 500,000.00 before being issued with the fake letters of
appointment.
This prompted a quick response from the Intelligence Unit of the Service who later arrested Mr. Odeh in his hideout.
The applicants with fake appointment letters and Mr. Odeh have been handed over to the Nigerian Police Force for further interrogation and prosecution.
Meanwhile, other members of the syndicate are still at large.
The public is hereby advised to beware of fraudsters on the prowl seeking to take undue advantage of the congested labour market to inflict further pains on unsuspecting job-seekers.
