The campaign rally of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha yesterday witnessed a strange turn as the crowd who had gathered cheered Governor Rochas Okorocha instead of the PDP candidate.
Ihedioha’s campaign train with a long motorcade, which momentarily paralysed economic activities in the ever busy roads of Douglas, Mbaise and Okigwe road, resulted in heavy traffic gridlock on the roads as the crowd along the major roads chanted “Owelle we know; APC is the party”.
The chanting crowd did not stop at that as they brandished brooms and posters of Okorocha. Some people in the crowd acted to be sweeping away the dust raised by the campaign train with their brooms.
The development later degenerated into a sort of competition of brooms and umbrellas as the PDP supporters responded likewise by brandishing their umbrellas.
Meanwhile, Ihedioha’s campaign train which included other PDP candidates who won the party’s primaries terminated at the party’s State Secretariat located along Okigwe Road in Owerri.(Daily Post)
