The Council State after its Thursday meeting which lasted for over seven hours has advised the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to go ahead and ensure that the 2015 elections hold as scheduled, despite several concerns raised at the meeting.
Speaking with State House correspondents at the end of the meting, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State disclosed that INEC told the council that it was ready to conduct the elections without doubts.
He said that apart from the concern raised by security chiefs over some local governments that are currently under the control of Boko Haram insurgents, they also expressed readiness for the elections.
Okorocha said that with the situation, it invariably means that elections will not hold in the affected areas.(Daily Post)
