Barely two days after 46 leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), prominent PDP leaders and their supporters in Ondo East and West, the home town of Governor Olusegun Mimiko, have also joined the APC.
They said their defection was to align with the APC and Gen Muhammadu Buhari for the desired change in Nigeria.
The decampees who were led by former chairman of Ondo West, Yinka Adeyosoye made their defection public at the APC state secretariat along Oyemekun road, Akure the state capital.
Adeyosoye said they decided to join the APC because it was important to be part of the history which is about to happen in the country.
He said they had made series of consultations with their people and realised that APC was the party to join.
According to him, the APC would make history in the country come February 14.
Adeyosoye lamented that things were not going well in the country and particularly in Ondo State.
Other defectors were former Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to governor Olusegun Mimiko, Kolawole Olabisi, former Special Assistant to the govenor on special interest, Mr. Arije Kareem, Youth
leader of Hausa community in Ondo Kingdom, Yaro Aliu and its PRO, Adamu Ibraheem, Mr. Samuel Adeusi, among others.
Welcoming the defectors, the state chairman of the party, Isaac Kekemeke described their move as important because the decampees came from the home town of the state governor.
He expressed happiness that the APC had made breakthrough in Ondo State.
The Chairman assured the people that they were not coming any lesser than they were in their previous
positions in former parties.
He said the people of Ondo must be at the forefront in the struggle at ensuring change in the state and country at large.
Also, a leader of APC in Ondo, Mrs Lola Fagbemi appreciated the decampees for their prompt decision, urging them to work for the victory of the party in the area.(Daily Post)
