The Inspector General of Police, Mr Suleiman Abba, has directed all Zonal Assistant Inspectors General of Police and Commissioners of Police across the nation to ensure that they put in place adequate measures to secure arms and ammunition in their possession.
The IG of Police, in a release by the force mouth piece, Mr Emmanuel Ojukwu, on Thursday ordered all Zonal Assistant Inspectors General of Police and Commissioners of Police in charge of the states to see that measures are taken to protect arms and ammunition.
Abbas noted that adequate steps must be taken to prevent possible attempt by hoodlums or men of the underworld to attack police stations and other installations across the nation within this period of election.
He also ordered the Commissioners to step up security at banks within their location and partner with bank authorities on possible ways to secure their environment.
The public was called upon to work with the force in its determined efforts to root out crimes and ensure that Nigerians and foreigners in the country were safe as they go about their daily activities.(Daily Post)
