Gov. Kwankwanso Storms Benin … Woos Oshiomhole, Edo Delegates For Presidential Bid Support

Benin, Edo, Nigeria – By Oladipo Airenakho.

Kano State Governor and Presidential hopeful of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Rabiu Musa Kwankwanso, stormed Benin City, the Edo State capital yesterday to enlist the support of Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and other delegates ahead of his party’s presidential primaries.

In his speech at the State House Governor Kwankwanso described the Peoples Democratic Party-led Federal Government as incompetent, corrupt and incapable of surmounting the challenges confronting the country.

He said “the present administration of PDP at the Federal level is not competent and if the government is allowed to continue, only God knows what will happen because of the insurgency, bad economy, unemployment and the failure in our educational system in the country.”

“I have come to Benin City to see you and through you see our delegates that will elect the candidate of our party who by the grace of God will be the president and Commander-inChief of this country.”He said this of Oshiomhole: “We see you as a bridge builder, reliable and trusted and we are delighted that by the Grace of God; you are the Governor of this important state.”

“By the 10th of this month, we will all be in Lagos to elect the flag bearer of our party. That is why I am here to see the delegates and to appeal to them especially by way of telling them our achievements in Kano state.”

The Kano State Chief Executive Officer assured that if elected by the party, he would tackle so many challenges presently faced by the country, especially the problem of insecurity.

The presidential aspirant said “being a former Minister of Defence, I believe if elected to fly the APC flag in Feb. 2015, the issue of insurgency will be a thing of the past”.

Responding, Governor Adams Oshiomhole said “Like you, I am convinced that Nigerians must for once look at the people, their pedigree and make decisions that will provide whether or not this country will survive”

He said “There is no doubt that we are all watching the way our country is slipping down in terms of the human welfare, the country is progressing negatively since 1999 and I will say we cannot continue to do the same thing over and over again and expect different results.”

“If for sixteen years we have used the same machinery, the same kind of people pursuing the same set of programmes, relying on the policy of earmarking, Nigeria will continue to go down the drain and therefore the time for change is now, he demanded.”

Governor Oshiomhole bemoaned the growing level of insecurity in the country, saying “our armed forces that have been celebrated as the most outstanding armed forces on the continent, so respected that it is called upon by other nations for peace keeping have become a laughing stock. The moment of change is now, he invoked.
