Hon. Samson Osagie, an APC Member representing Edo, Orhionmwon/ Uhunmwode Federal constituency in the House of Representatives has been declared winner of his party’s Edo South Senatorial District primary election held at the Samuel Osaigbovo Ogbemudia stadium today.
The Lawmaker, currently minority whip at the House of Representatives walloped his opponents, having polled a total of 1120 votes as against his closest rival and Chief of Staff to Edo State Governor, Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon who scored 894 votes.
Other contestants that received humiliating defeats at the primary were Mr. Irabor Emokpae who scored 28 votes and Hon. Jim Adun currently representing Egor/Ikpoba Okha Federal constituency in the House of Representatives who scored 162 votes.
Eight votes were voided while a total of 2212 party delegates were accredited to vote at the APC primary in Benin City.
The defeat of Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon has put to rest, speculations that he was being backed by the Governor against his opponents.
Obahiagbo was said to have touted his relationship with the governor to give him the party’s senatorial ticket.
Results from other senatorial districts in Edo State would be provided as soon as they are confirmed.
