Benin, Edo, Nigeria – By Oladipo Airenakho
Reverend (Dr.) Felix Omobude, President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) used the weekly Sunday service at his New Covenant Gospel Church last Sunday to appeal for donations in support of surviving victims of the Boko Haram insurgency in Nigeria.
He made the call at the service, attended by leadership and members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, both within and outside Edo State who were there for a thanksgiving following a successful Edo NUJ week.
Reverend Omobude, General Superintendent of the church called on well-meaning individuals within and outside Nigeria to donate generously towards the rehabilitation of those affected.
He said it was beyond comprehension that a fellow human could afflict another with such cruelty as is currently being witnessed in affected areas of the country and yet justify such action as God- instructed.
The man of God called for prayers for God’s intervention in the situation and that God not only expose Boko Haram sponsors, but disgrace them.
‘’Let the sponsors of Boko Haram be disgraced and exposed,’’ he invoked.
Rev. Omobude who believed that only God can intervene in the spiraling violence brought about by the insurgency also prayed for all well-meaning individuals to be responsive to the call for donations.
The donations, he said will give strength to the surviving victims of Boko Haram insurgency to be strong.
‘’Only God can intervene. Help us to be responsive and give strength to the victims to be strong through your donations.’’
Donations were subsequently commenced at the Sunday service with further announcement that nothing was too small to give in support of the surviving victims.
Members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) took their turn at the Sunday service with their thanksgiving offerings before the Alter for a successful Edo NUJ week.
