US, UNICEF Condemn Terrorists Attacks On Civilians

Boko Haram

Abuja—The United States government, yesterday, condemned, in the strongest terms, the incessant attacks on defenseless civilians these past weeks by Boko Haram insurgents and urged the Federal Government to investigate and bring the perpetrators to justice.

The government particularly frowned at the attacks on Ashura in Potiskum in Yobe State and in Gombe, Gombe State, on November 3; Malam Fatori in Borno State on November 6; Azare in Bauchi State on November. 7; and, most recently, in Potiskum on November 10 by a suicide bomber, who killed many students and injured others.

It offered its sincere sympathy to the injured and to the families of the murdered.

The U.S. Government said in a statement that it remained committed to supporting the people of northern Nigeria in their struggle to stop the abhorrent actions of Boko Haram and associated terrorist groups.

Meanwhile, the United Nations International Children Emergency Fund, UNICEF, has also condemn the cruel attack on the Government Science Technical School, Potiskum in Yobe State, Nigeria, which killed dozens of children and injured many more.

It said: “These repeated and relentless attacks on children and schools are attacks on the future of Nigeria, a country that already has the largest number of children out of school in the world.

“We call on those with the responsibility and power to bring the perpetrators of this cruel act to justice.” (Vanguard)
