Benin-based centenarian, late Madam Uhunamure Agbontaen Igbinosun recently took her final journey in this life circle in Benin City Edo State, with a befitting burial ceremony accorded her by family members and friends.
Late Madam Igbinosun answered the inevitable call of God on May 7, 2014 at the ripe age of 106.
Her burial ceremony which took place between October 9 and 12, 2014 at St. Maria Goretti College in Benin in Benin City attracted several dignitaries from all over Nigeria and some other parts of the world.
Among those present at the ceremony were the President of Bishop Idahosa University, Bishop F.E.B. Idahosa, Engineer Chris Ogiemwonyi, Bishop Egbe Davis, Prince Ekperiebe Akenzua, representatives from Anglican Dioceses and a host of others.
Mr. Osagie Igbinosun, son of the departed, in a statement issued on his arrival in the United State, following the burial expressed his thanks and appreciation to all those who supported him and the family throughout the moments of grief and during the burial.
He specifically named the following organizations and individuals: Akugbe Oretin (Chicago), Eghosa Old Boys (Global), Lions Club International (Edo State), NIDO (Chicago), and all his friends and well wishers for their support.
Mr. Igbinosun acknowledged their prayers and thoughtful words as a stabilizing force that saw him through the trying moments.
“I was overwhelmed by the massive outpouring of condolences, personal visits, phone calls and emails. I am truly grateful to have such wonderful friends. On behalf of my family, I wish to convey our sincerest appreciation for your love, ministry and support during our difficult time.”
Late Madam Igbinosun was born in 1908 at Idumwonwina in Orhionmwon Local Government of Edo State.
A devoted Christian, she gave birth to an all-male six children, but was however survived by four, 27 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
