The Special Adviser to the Governor on Information & Strategy, Mr. Lateef Raji has said that the State Government would embrace genuine collaborative efforts between the State and the Federal Technology Incubation Centre, Lagos in as much as it is tailored towards reducing the rate of unemployment in the state.
The Special Adviser said this while receiving the newly appointed Chairperson of the Centre, Dr. (Mrs). Julie Momah and her team who are on a courtesy visit to the Ministry to the State.
Mr. Raji who commended the centre for taking the initiative of reaching out to Lagos State Government on its programmes and activities, also commended its ability to kick-start business initiatives of young entrepreneurs so as to compete favourably in the global market.
In her address, Dr. Momah pointed at the effort of the centre in providing enabling environment for the grooming of business ideas in order to drastically stem unemployment in Lagos and its environs adding that the centre has successfully graduated over 80 entrepreneurs and over 10,000 jobs have been created since its inception.
It should be noted that the Agency which is being coordinated by the National Board for Technology Incubation (CBTI) is under the Federal Ministry of Science & Technology offers an integrated support programme with the sole aim of assisting budding entrepreneurs in the development of new technology-based firms both start- up and fledging.
In a related development, Federal Information Centre new Head, Mr. Ajayi Ebenezer, who paid a courtesy visit to the Ministry, has appreciated the efforts of the Lagos State Government especially in the area of security. He also admonished the State Government in providing enabling environment for the media to thrive in the State.
While welcoming him to the Ministry and the State in particular Mr. Raji promised him on the cooperation in information sharing not just to make his job easier for him but in making him a part of the processing of enlightening the people.
