“The outright fact or bottom line of International Conspiracy Syndrome (ICS) as it relates to Nigeria is that, while crude injustice and blatant exploitation becomes the lots of the majority of the people, a market or economic haven or paradise is being provided for the imperialist countries of the North especially the United states”-Taken from Nowata’s book- WHERE WE ARE (Page 155).
Ebola virus is the latest entrant to our already fragile health sector and as usual like everything that finds its way to the shores of Nigeria, a privileged few will take advantage of it to further pauperizes the already bastardised masses of Nigeria.
Even in the face of the so called ‘ravaging’ Ebola virus, the federal government has decided to scrap the residency programme for doctors in the land.
Though, I am not a medical doctor, but I think the recent decision by the federal government of Nigeria is ill-timed, vindictive and a calculated attempt to undermine the already troubling health sector in the country.
If the Jonathan Presidency indeed actually wants to hit back at the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) for its last strike that paralyzed the sector, there are other decent ways of going about it. Why scrap the residency programme at this point in time?
In the interest of the nation, the federal government should reverse this unpleasant decision without delay.
We are supposed to be moving forward and not backward! Before I proceed to thrash the topic for today, it is imperative for me to say a word or two about the recent governorship election in Osun state of Nigeria, because of its importance to the electoral health of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, which has slated the presidential election for February 2015.
In Osun state, under Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola, the people have chosen to take side with practical progress, unlike what took place in Ekiti governorship election where the reverse was the case.
By returning Ogbeni Aregbesola to power, the electorate have made a significant decision that is to say that they have paid Ogbeni with magnificent gratitude.
In rejecting Senator Iyiola Omisore of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the masses of Osun state have sent a positive signal that politicians with questionable characters, who do not genuinely have the interest of the bastardised masses at heart must not be allowed to have their way no matter the garment of pretense, lies and artificiality they put on.
The lessons to learnt from Aregbesola’s well-deserved victory is that ultimately real political power rests with the people, and budding politicians should always have a clear cut agenda for the people from whom they seek mandates.
The onus now rests on Ogbeni Aregbesola to continue to flourish with all the altruistic projects that he has genuinely started. There is no doubt that history will be lenient with him at the end of his tenure.
My mind just goes to the National Political Conference which concluded its sitting with a draft report recently.
I have written profusely on the jamboree called National Political Conference before.
I still stand to be proven wrong that nothing tangible will come out of the said draft report that was shown to us the other day.
It offends common sense to know that our so-called leaders are normally not sincere with what they are dishing out to the general public.
National Political Conference my foot, in a country that simply refuses to get it right with its electoral system.
What is wrong if the presidency sends an executive bill to the National Assembly to insert a clause that will digitalize our voting system?
If we had sanitized the electoral system, the type of ‘war’ that was fought during the recent governorship election in Osun state would never have come up at all?
Now to the much talked about Ebola Virus. It is clear that the West is at it again in exploiting Africa, nay Nigeria.
From what I have read about the Ebola Virus’ entry into the Federal Republic of Nigeria, we don’t need to be told that the self-proclaimed policeman of the world (United States) simply wants to market the vaccine they had manufactured for some time now.
We have not forgotten how HIV/AIDS was cruelly sneaked into the world, and today manufacturers of the drugs are fabulously feeding fat, while all sorts of blames are being heaped on the hopeless, miserable and hapless people of Africa.
Even in the face of the Ebola threat health officials who are in vantage positions both at the national, states and local levels will certainly exaggerate things in order to line their pockets. That is the Nigerian factor.
As the Ebola conspiracy has successfully entered our shores, what is the Federal Government doing about common and preventable disease such as cholera, fever and tuberculosis etc. that are snatching the lives of the masses mercilessly?
How I wish that the approach being applied to the Ebola conspiracy is extended to other preventable diseases?
Compared to our population, how many citizens have the Ebola Virus consumed? The Federal Government should please apply wisdom in its approach to this grandiose conspiracy. A holistic approach is urgently needed in the health sector!
